A Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Unless you have a world atlas and a book on geology, you may find this book a bit bland. There isn't a great deal of character development but the first party narration gives you a glimpse of the experience from a very human point of view.

The ending is exciting and the near-death brushes kept my son on the edge of his seat.

Anyone can appreciate the amount of research the author undertook to write this story. If you have a scientific bend, you'll enjoy the rich detail here.

Otherwise....students of human nature and not geology might want to read 20000 Leagues Under the Sea instead.
