Unpublished short stories and poems
Posted by Lale on 11/10/2001, 13:53:46
The cat and I were thinking... Why not change the useless "Lale's Short Stories" page into an "Unpublished Short Stories and Poems" page and open it to readliterature.com's participants and guests?
We came up with some ground rules:
We will post your unpublished story or poem if
- it doesn't contain any objectionable material, hate, offense against any minority or ethnic group, porn etc.
- it isn't too long, let say for now, not to exceed 10000 words,
- if you are a big girl/boy and you can take criticism (we may praise or trash your work publicly in "talk literature" .)
And no, of course we do not pay any money, we are barely surviving ourselves. Also, we cannot provide any protection against plagiarism. Submit your creations at your own risk.
Please do not forget that this is an amateur site and everything said and done in here is just for
the love of it. (amateur : -ORIGIN late 18th cent.: from French, from Italian amatore, from Latin amator 'lover', from amare 'to love'. )
If in the future we have more submissions than we can accomodate, earlier submissions may be voted off by the participants of this site to leave room for newer and/or more promising works. But that is still a long way off, we currently do not have any disk quota problems.
Your comments and suggestions on this new incentive of Pamuk The Cat and Lale The Fanatic are welcome.

in a night, which no one knows
substances of mist, humidity and rain,
a place, which names barely can enclose,
so forgotten, so small and off the lane
I saw the madness of pain and love,
the deep dug crossroad of urge and end,
the general appeal of histrionic stuff,
the never god-protected at your hand;
hands that caress you, unwashed and hot,
which like to hold you but fail to grasp
how to sustain the other, at which spot
to mend, that the grip may always clasp
ah, these fogs, this cold neglect,
this rejection to endure a strain,
to bond, keep faith, hold on and to connect
oh god the gods! humidity and rain!

On October 9th, 2001 my father died of a series of severe heart attacks. He left behind his
companion of 55 years and his son.

My deepest sympathies. May he rest in peace.
The poem is tremendous. Great translation.
55 years. How is this person holding up? I can only imagine how it must be like.
I am sure your father was a proud father.
