My sweet Lord

Posted by Lale on 30/11/2001, 13:46:20

I just read that George Harrison has died. Cancer. 58. It broke my heart. I hope his search has ended in satisfaction. We will always have his music.

My sweet lord

Hm, my lord

Hm, my lord

I really want to see you

Really want to be with you

Really want to see you lord

But it takes so long, my lord

I can't believe it! --It just bought his re-released, remastered double album, "All Things Must Pass"! (For my money, he was the most dignified of the post-Beatles and definitely the most under-rated. In fact, for my money, toward the end of the Beatles' run, he was producing songs as good--if not sometimes better--than Lennon and McCartney. "Something," "Here Comes the Sun," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Long, Long, Long," "Not Guilty," among others. A great talent. He will be missed.

one for you nineteen for me

Yes, he will be missed. I was thinking about him when I was reading The Razor's Edge. I am sure he will rest as peacefully as he lived.

He did have quite a few twists and turns of fate, didn't he? That thing with Eric Clapton... He was always "big" enough to rise above it though, even played Leyla with Clapton, a song written for his wife.

Then there was the plagiarism suit. I do have a CD of The Chiffons and "He's So Fine" sounds nothing like "My Sweet Lord".

Yes, absolutely.

let me tell you how it will be / there's one for you nineteen for me / cause I'm the taxman

Isn't that a cute song?

It has been a few days now, and my thoughts are still with George Harrison. I am still listening to his songs.
