One night Nasreddin Hodja and his wife were awoken with noise of burglars breaking into their house.
`Effendi, there are thieves downstairs,' said the wife in a panic, `we should go down and drive them away!'
The Hodja didn't see the urgency.
`Woman, there is no need for haste. First let them find something to steal, then we'll go down and confront them.'
