One night Nasreddin Hodja's wife got sick. She was in pain and she asked the Hodja to go fetch the doctor. Nasreddin Hodja headed towards the doctor's house. After he left, the wife started to feel better, the pain vanished and she decided that she didn't need the doctor any more. She sent her son to run and catch the Hodja and tell him that the doctor was no longer necessary. The boy caught up with his father in front of the doctor's house. As Nasreddin Hodja was knocking on the door, the boy delivered the message. It was too late, of course. The doctor opened the door and Nasreddin Hodja, in utter confusion, hesitated before the doctor who was apparently woken up from his sleep. Soon the Hodja's mind processed the new information he received from his son and grasped the need to say something to the doctor who expected a good reason for being disturbed in the middle of the night.
`Doctor Effendi, I came to tell you that you do not have to come to our house right now, my wife is feeling better.' he stammered.
