1. Samuel Beckett settled in Paris in 1937. He died in Paris.
2. Elizabeth Bowen departed for England with her mother at the age of 7. She died in London.
3. Maria Edgeworth was born in England. In 1782, when she was 15, her family relocated to Ireland.
4. Oliver Goldsmith left Ireland in 1752 and went to Edinburgh to study medicine. He died in London.
5. James Joyce left Ireland in 1904. He lived in various European cities including Paris. He died in Zurich.
6. Frank McCourt was born in Brooklyn, New York. His family moved to Ireland when he was 4. He grew up in Limerick. In 1949, when he was 18 years old, he returmed back to New York, for good. He is as Irish as he is a New Yorker. His first book, Angela's Ashes, couldn't have been listed anywhere but under Irish Literature.
7. George Bernard Shaw moved to England in 1876, when he was 20 years old. There he joined his mother and his sister who had left Ireland a few years earlier. Shaw died in London.
8. Laurence Sterne was born in Ireland, but he was of English descent. He died in London.
